Remoteli, the talent marketplace that connects global enterprises with top-tier African professionals, has secured £250,000 in pre-seed funding to scale its operations and presence across Africa. The funding will also help the company accelerate its 2030 vision of employing one million people in Africa.
The round was led by Bayern Leverkusen’s right wing-back professional footballer, Jeremie Frimpong. Remoteli has also partnered with Jeremie to implement the Pathways Project, an initiative that offers guidance and resources to help players explore diverse career pathways beyond football. The program will provide a tailored framework across various industries, including tech, property, gaming, and finance, to empower players and offer them a seamless transition into alternative careers.
In 2020, during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Samuel Brooksworth founded Remotli. He observed how the pandemic had disrupted the operations of businesses in the United Kingdom, making it difficult for them to find the talent to grow their organisations. At the same time, he was aware of the high unemployment rate in Ghana. To address both issues, Samuel decided to create a platform that connects young people with job opportunities in global organisations.
The startup currency serves over 100 businesses with a team of 100 in addition to a talent pool of 7,000. The company’s AI-powdered matching tool matches organisations with marketing, software development, business development and business support talents.
In 2024, the company plans to launch its e-learning platform, Remoteli Academy, which will provide comprehensive training opportunities to its talent pool. The 2023 Ghana Innovation and Startup Award Rising Star category winner recently expanded to Rwanda and is planning to extend its reach to other African countries in 2024.
