6 Questions with Gifty Gyimah (Community Manager, The Enterprise Village Hub)

Gifty Gyimah is passionate about digital innovation and entrepreneurship. At Enterprise Village, she builds, grows, and manages the innovation hubs’ online and offline communities of entrepreneurs. She uses social media platforms like WhatsApp to connect aspiring entrepreneurs with mentors and organizes workshops on everything from mobile app development to using social media for business growth.

1. How would you describe your job to a 5-year-old?

My job is like a kind helper at the children’s playground. I’m here to make sure everyone is playing nicely and having fun. If there is a question someone has to ask, I’ll be there to help them. I also come up with fun activities.

2. What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned since launching your startup or getting into the role?

I learned that small gestures like replying to a comment, clarifying a post, or commenting on a follower’s comment or post are highly valued and appreciated. Who knew that just replying to a comment or suggestion could brighten someone’s day?

3. What’s one function or area of your job you spend the most time on?

Content creation. Finding the right content to post is time-consuming. I need to do research on what kind of content our followers relate to.

4. What are 3 trends in your sector you are bullish about or keeping a close tab on?

• The use of AI in creating content.
• Mental health awareness trends for founders and startup employees.
• Communities that have a particular niche.

5. What gaps do you think startups in Ghana should be building for?

Solutions for affordable housing. People have tried building solutions to help with affordable housing in Ghana, but those solutions seem to have gone down the drain. If only there were support from government agencies and other local investors, building software or an app for affordable housing would go a long way to helping the ordinary Ghanaian.

6. If you were to build a new company, which historical or contemporary figure would you appoint to the board and why?

Folorunso Alakija!!! She is a mogul in the oil, fashion, and real estate industries.
